On 21st May 2008 at midday on the junction of the roads to Wieliczka and Różnowa, a symbolic commencement of the works concerning modernisation of the state road no. 964,Wieliczka - Kasina Wielka sector, took place. The mayor of Wieliczka, Artur Kozioł welcomed the guests who arrived to witness the event:the Marshalls of the Małopolska State - Roman Ciepiela and Wojciech Kozak, senators - Maciej Klima and Tadeusz Skorupa, the vice-prefect of the Wieliczka district, Mirosław Mrozowski along with the representatives of the local governments from the areas through which the state road no. 964 runs and the representatives of the State Roads and Police Board. The investment is being financed with the European Union financial means as a part of the Małopolska Regional Operational Programme, and the altogether cost equals almost 39 mln PLN.

We're finally seeing the beginning of an investment as crucial as the modernization of the state road no.964, Wieliczka - Kasina Wielka sector.
The investment shall improve the quality of communication between the areas being the economic activity zones (the Niepołomice Investment Zone, the "Green Dobczyce" Industrial Zone) and the areas being attractive as far as the tourism-linked qualities are concerned (The Wieliczka Salt Mine, the Wooden Architecture Route) as well as the main urban centres - the Cracow Metropolitan Area, Tarnów and Nowy Targ.
The access to the highway A-4 between Kraków and Tarnów under construction shall be facilitated as well.
The modernisation shall be performed on the over 34 kilometres long section of the road.

On the state road the toplayer shall be changed, pavements shall be created along with kerbstones and flay-bys.
Reconstruction of the junction of the streets Piłsudskiego and Asnyka in Wieliczka is being planned as well.The investement is to be carried out during 2 years and its overall costs amount to 38,7 mln PLN, from which the European Union as a part of the Małopolska Regional Operational Programme shall exceed 25 mln PLN.

The cost of modernisation of the sector located in our municipality amounts to 7,5 mln PLN, out of which the Wieliczka Municipality covers 1 600 thousand PLN.
The contractor of our sector is the POLDIM firm.
The commencement of the modernisation works - symbolic digging in of the shovel into the earth - has been performed by the guests who arrived especially on this occassion -
the marshalls Roman Ciepiela and Wojciech Kozak, chairman Jacek Jurka and the host of the Municipality, mayor Artur Kozioł.
The celebration was accompanied by a performance by the Podstolice Brass Band.
