The Wieliczka Brass Orchestra Festival

Yesterday an Inter-District Review of the 31st Wieliczka Brass Band Orchestra Festival has been conducted. The jury, consisting of Stanisław Migacz and Captain Stefan Żuk has awarded two first places aex-equo - to the Old Town Brass Band from Cracow and the Representative Brass Band of the Town and Municipality of Świątniki Górne. Mayor of Wieliczka, Artur Kozioł funded a cup, which he personally handed to the winner orchestra from Świątniki Górne, while the Old Town Orchestra from Cracow has received a cup of the Wieliczka District Foreman Jacek Juszkiewcz.


 The second place of the festival and the cup of the Culture and Tourism Centre in Wieliczka went to the Podstolice Brass Band, conducted by Stanisław Gawor. The jury has also awarded a distinction to the OSP Brass Band from Biskupice.
The Inter-District Brass Band Orchestra Festival also constitutes a part of selection procedure of the Małopolska Brass Bands Festival "Echo of the Trombita" in Nowy Sącz.
In accordance with verdict of the jury the following ensembles shall partake in the festival : The Old Town Brass Band from Cracow conducted by Wiesław Olejniczak,the Representative Brass Band of the Town and Municipality of Świątniki Górne conducted by Robert Kozłowski as well as the Podstolice Brass Band.
Furthermore, there was a performance by the Representative Orchestra Wieliczka Salt Mine which did not take part in the competition
