More and more beautiful temples in our municipality

Slowly, the renovation works in the St.Klemens church are drawing to an end. The historic temple is getting a new look both inside and outside.

Meanwhile renovation works concerning the historic courtyard and a complex of the Via Crucis chapels by the Franciscan-Reformers Brothers Church commenced, as did the renovation works of the historic elevation of the Holy Mother of Częstochowa in Gorzków parish church. The latter shrine is being prepared for the 85th anniversary in September. The renovation is being performed thanks to the municipal dotations dedicated to financing the conservation, restoration and construction works related to the objects being a part of the historic monuments register. In 2008 the sum of money dedicated to this cause amounted to 600 thousand PLN. Last year the dotation has been utilised by the Roman-Catholic Holy Mother's Ascension parish in Grabie. Renovation of the roofing of the church recognized as one of the most valuable monuments of the wooden architecture of the Małopolska region has been performed there. The dotation also allowed performance of the renovation and protection works related to the historic attic of the building at 1 Kosciuszko Square in Wieliczka. The most serious undertaking, however, was renovation of the historic elevation of the St.Klemens church in Wieliczka. All of the restoration works are supposed to end by autumn 2008.

Recently we've been observing a giant building site by the Franciscan-Reformer Brothers cloister. The Municipality allotted 280 thousand PLN to renovation works conducted there.

On the other hand, on 30th June 2008 renovation works concerning the Holy Mother of Częstochowa church in Gorzków commenced. A sum of 200thousand PLN has been allotted to this cause while a part of the necessary funds has been provided by the parishioners.

First stage of the works comprises of tearing off the concrete plate around the church, transporting the earth away from the site and hammering away the plaster from the lower part of the church as well as exposure of the foundations. It is also necessary to perform dehydration of the area around the church as for years now the dampness creeps in and destroys the historic interior. The parishioners very actively participate in the renovation works as they wish that their shrine look especially beautiful in the year of the anniversary of the Gorzków parish.

The municipal authorities, caring for the preservation of the cultural heritage, plan to dedicate larger financial resources to the renovation of the objects that can be found in the historic monuments register. Thanks to these measures the Wieliczka municipality shall become even more attractive from the tourist point of view and the historic buildings shall not be forgotten.
