Half way through the festival

A Chopin recital performed by the Japanese pianist Hiroshi Kurotaki marked the halfway point of the 2nd Summer Music Festival Wieliczka 2008. The performance took place at the Turówka Hotel.

Hiroshi Kurotaki performed the well known works of the Polish composer, including the A sharp Major Polonaise p.53 no.6, the c-minor "Revolutionary" Etude op.10 no.12, the a-minor etude op.10 no.2.The thrilled public twice demanded an encore.

The organisers cordially invite the public to view the performances planned for the second half of the festival.

Hiroshi Kurotaki is a graduate from the piano class of professor Teruyuki Okada and Yoshio Noro at the Hokkaido University of Education in Hakodate.

He's done an internship at the Cracow Music Academy in the class of professor Jerzy Łukowicz and attended the master classes conducted by professor Halina Czerny-Stefańska in Duszniki Zdrój.He's been having relations with Poland for 15 years already and frequently performs here.

In his repertoire he's got works written by composers such as - among others - Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn as well as Rachmaninov and Medtner.

Hiroshi Kurotaki is an eager and talented improviser as well; he also prepares interesting transcriptions for the piano.

The concert's organisers prepared a little surprise for the gathered guests. During the break Ewa Romaniak - the well known actress from the Ludwik Solski Theatre in Tarnów read the poem by the great Polish poet Cyprian Kamil Norwid entitled "Chopin's Grand Piano".
