Farewell to the Summer in Janowice

On 14th September the residents of the Janowice village bid farewell to the summer together through a fete organised by the "Tradition for the Future" Society and the Soletstvo Council. Numerous attractions have been prepared both for the children and the adults.

"Farewell to the Summer", the annual fete taking place in the Janowice village took place on the playground near the primary school. The organisers prepared numerous attractions for both - the children and the adults.

There was a performance by the brass orchestra from Sobolów, contests and a lottery with prizes amounting to a sum of 5 thousand PLN.

The lottery was sponsored by the local firms and entrepreneurs.

During the fete competitions entitled "My Garden" and, for the children, for the "Biggest Pumpkin" were concluded.

The first place in the gardening contest was taken by Mr and Mrs Hojoł from Janowice Zamłynie.

The committee comprising of Gabryjela Jędrys – the chairman, Mieczysław Bruzda and the village administrator Henryk Kowal , took into consideration, above all, the amount of work on the part of the gardeners necessary inorder to obtain the final effect - the beautiful garden.

In case of Mr and Mrs Hojoł - the style of the garden is oriental (the Bonsai trees and the rock garden) and have been tended for ten years.

The second prize was awarded to Mr and Mrs Kopan and the third - to Mr and Mrs Kozłowski.

The "Biggest Pumpkin" competition has begun in the spring already. The originators wanted to encourage the children to grow pumpkins and thus handed out the pumpkin seeds at school. During the fete a fine-looking and heavy pumpkin weighing 47 kilograms was presented by Natalia Sikora, the first place winner. The second place was awarded to Ola Sikora, whose pumpkin weighed 46 kilograms and the third to Michał Witczak, with the weight of the vegetable - 27 kilograms.

The organisers are happy with their spring action and do hope that the competition shall become a fixed event during the course of events like this.The fete ended with dances accompanied by the Meritum group.
