The safe grammar school

Last week the Małopolska Governor Jerzy Miller and the Vice-Mayor of Wieliczka, Henryk Gawor participated in the presentation of the certificates “The school promoting safety” which took place at the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Cracow.

The Małopolska Voivodeship commandant presented the certificates to fourteen schools in Małopolska. One of them is the Kazimierz Wielki Grammar School in Wieliczka.

The local government authorities, the Civic Guards and the policemen from the Wieliczka Police Station are the Wieliczka Grammar’s partners as far as the realization of the projects goes.

Ewa Okoń- a pedagogue- has become the school coordinator of the project.

At first an opinion poll has been conducted among the pupils, teachers and the parents.

Next, a project has been prepared concerning improvement of safety and the fight against violence, consequently incorporated in the life of the school.

The audit, conducted in June 2008 by the certification team of the Integrated Safety Policy, has assessed the realization of the projects in all the three areas (organizational, infrastructural and technical) as very high.

That’s how the only grammar school in Wieliczka has received for the first time “The school promoting safety” certificate. Now the task is to maintain its validity for the period of the next two years.

The Integrated Safety Policy Project is based on the Dutch experiences. The main assumptions of the programme are the integration of activities of all the environments and institutions as well as the local government authorities in order to raise the level of safety in the schools.

The project is being coordinated by the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Cracow.
