The fascination with jazz music in Poland appeared in the pre-World War II period, however after the liberation a sort of fanatic love for the genre was to be observed.Today it is being explained as the intellectual circles' escape from the gloomy political reality towards the hint of freedom brought about in those days by the jazz.
Today we have the pleasure of inviting you to the 53rd Jazz All Souls, as a part of which there shall also be concerts to be attended in Wieliczka. The project has been realised with the financial assistance of the Wieliczka Municipality.
The Jazz All Souls genesis reaches to 2nd November 1954 when all the Polish jazzmen met in the gym of the primary school at Królowa Jadwiga Street in Cracow.Although the event was not a concert, it still was the first all-Polish jam session, which historically is being recognized as the first Cracow Jazz All Souls.
The organisers of the Wieliczka Day during the 53rd Cracow Jazz All Souls are:the Town and Municipality of Wieliczka, the Social-Cultural "De Profundis" Society and the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine.
This year's stars are - among others - Mack Goldsbury (USA) as well as Tomasz Stańko and Miroslav Vitous, the Weather Report ensemble's bass player.
