Last week modernization of the provincial road no 964 on the section Wieliczka-Kasina Wielka commenced. The range of the planned works is large indeed and their realization is anticipated for the period of two years.

Presently pavement construction has been initiated from Lednicka Street on,along the road.

We ask the drivers driving along this road in the direction of Rożnowa to drive carefully, as the area is subject to alternation.

The investment is co-financed from the European Union funds as a part of the Regional Małopolska Operational Programme and its collective cost amounts to 39 millions PLN.

As a part of the investment toplayer shall be changed, pavements, bays and kerbs constructed. Reconstruction of the junction of Piłsudskiego and Asnyka Streets in Wieliczka is being planned as well.The cost of modernization of the segment in the area of the Wieliczka municipality amounts to 7,5 mln PLN,out of which approximately 2 mln PLN are being financed by the municipality itself.

Performer of the section of the road in the area of our municipality is the POLDIM firm.

Modernization of the provincial road no 964 shall improve the quality of connection between the areas being the economic activity zones (Niepołomice Investment Zone, "Zielone Dobczyce" Industrial Zone) and the areas regarded as attractive from the touristic point of view (The "Wieliczka" Salt Mine, The Wooden Architecture Route) as well as with the main urban centres - the Cracow Metropolitan Area,Tarnów and Nowy Targ.Access to the A4 highway under construction between Kraków and Tarnów shall be facilitated as well.The modernization shall cover an over 34 kilometres segment of the road.
