On the 1st July a holiday club called "Literotrampa" started its activities in the District and Civic Public Library in Wieliczka.
Classes for the children take place between Monday and Friday, from 11AM to 1PM. The Wieliczka library also encourages the children and the youth to participate in the competition for the holiday souvenir and encourages to submit unusual photographs as a part of the competition entitled "The holiday dream scenery". The readers visiting the library at 2 Żwirki and Wigury Street shall doubtless notice the post-competition exhibition entitled "Saint Kinga in words and pictures, or the rebus concerning the patroness of Wieliczka".
The exhibition is made of 65 works exposed in a very original way - on a vertical lattice connecting all of the storeys of a staircase in the building of the library.This way the library presents the art achievements of primary and grammar schools pupils from the area of our municipality, participating in the second edition of the competition dedicated to the patroness of Wieliczka.
On 3rd June the final gala of the competition organised by the Saint Kinga Primary School of Podstolice as well as the Wieliczka District and Civic Library Public Library took place.
The aim of the competition was propagation of knowledge concerning the patroness of our town - Saint Kinga - among the school-age youth.
This year, the task of the participants was to prepare three rebuses with slogans related to life and activity of the princess.
According to the competition's regulations, at least half of the graphic elements were to be related to the personage of the patroness, her life and activity or the times she lived in. The results achieved by the competition partakers can be viewed in the Wieliczka library.

Regulations of the competition entitled „THE HOLIDAY SOUVENIR"
1. Find:
- an interesting geological exhibit (a stone, a shell, an amber)
- a leaf from a tree or a bush, an interesting plant
- ceramics or folk handicraft characteristic for the visited region of Poland or of the World
2. Presentation techniques:
- the souvenirs can be presented in any chosen way
- the plant exhibits have to be dried and placed on a piece of an A4 paper, in case of the plants being under protection, a photo should be made
-each souvenir should be accompanied by an information concerning name, surname and age of the child.The place the exhibit has been found should be mentioned.
- the exhibits are to be submitted in the Libraries of the Wieliczka District and their branches until 19th September 2008, and in the District and Civic Library of Wieliczka until 26th September 2008.
- all of the exhibits shall be presented at the post - competition exhibition
- the competition's results shall be announced in the Libraries and their branches and on the webpage of the District Library of Wieliczka.
Regulations of the photography competition "The holiday dream landscapes":
- there is no age limit
- the condition of participation in the competition is submission to the Library three to five 15x21 format photos along with their electronic equivalent (a CD), attached information concerning the place photo has been taken and what it presents, signing it with the author's name and surname,age, profession,address, contact telephone number and an e-mail address.
- the photos should be submitted personally or via mail under the following address:The District and Civic Public Library of Wieliczka, 2 Żwirki i Wigury Street, 32-020 Wieliczka
- the deadline for submission of the works is 30th September 2008 . In case of the photos sent via mail, the postamark is decisive
- the best works shall be awarded prizes.
